Your Guide to Fringe - Happening Hamilton

As a theatre student, the anticipation of Fringe is killing me. Having an accessible and local performance festival for 10 years is something Hamilton can boast about. Amid the buzz, over 40 different company submissions and multiple venues, it can be hard to know where to start or what to see over the 10-day festival. Fear not: we’ve got you covered with the basics and beyond...

On the Fringe #6 - Hamilton Fringe Festival Blog

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I set off to meet the folks behind Bridezilla vs. the Apocalyyse. I have never, ever, met a zombie before. That day I was tired – and a little frazzled. I was late – thanks bus! I had grabbed the wrong notebook (red! because zombies!). It was just one of those days. Whatever I was expecting – what hit me, when I first walked in, was a massive air-wave of camaraderie. A most friendly and hospitable bunch: these folks are having a good time making theatre....

Bridezilla vs the Apocalypse - Hamilton Arts Council

Zombie hordes are taking over the world one bite at a time, and run directly into a wedding planner reality TV show incongruously collide in Brampton high school teacher Aaron Middlemass's excellent comedy BRIDEZILLA VS THE APOCALYPSE which ended my first day at the Hamilton Fringe.
Featuring a cast of 15, this is one of the largest productions seen to date in the festival. Typically Fringe plays are one or two person shows. This is certainly not the case here...

Hamilton Fringe 2013 Reviews - View Magazine

I had no idea there was such a thing as a zombie slasher play! The show even came with raincoats for the audience to protect from blood splatter (although I came at the last minute, missed that direction and sat in the front row like a fool with no protection. Luckily only a bit of blood got spattered on my ‘LOVE ME TRUE’ shirt... it later washed out easily).
Laura Ellis is great as main character Liv, who is standing in as wedding planner for a very high maintenance bride and her husband–to–be, coincidentally a man with whom Liv recently had an ‘engagement’ of her own...

Bridezilla vs the Apocalypse - HAC (2nd Review)

“Bridezilla Vs The Apocalypse” is a hilarious slasher-style play bound to keep you in suspense. It was like “Shawn of the Dead”, but with lesbians and a wedding.

Laura Ellis played Olivia, the wedding planner/tomboy/hero, who was taught survivalist skills by her father. Little did she know those skills would come in handy when she takes on a new job as a wedding planner.

Fringe Reviews: Bridezilla vs the Apocalypse - RTH

Olivia (played by Laura Ellis) is a last-minute replacement wedding planner called in on her day off because the head planner is missing. Not one but two Tim Hortons were closed this morning, and she's out of sorts without her morning coffee.

She immediately encounters Mitch (played by matt Moore), an opportunistic videographer trying to sell an obnoxious wedding disaster story to a reality TV show. He's determined to shoehorn the day's proceedings into his self-serving narrative.
